Venue/accommodation

Cagliari is situated in the south of the wonderful island of Sardinia (Italy), overlooking the centre of gulf called Golfo degli Angeli. The city can be quickly and easily reached by train from the airport. The rail service starts at about 5AM and ends after 10PM with 20 min average frequency. The journey to and from downtown takes 5-7 mins, single fare is 1.30 euro (Timetable)

The conference takes place at the Hotel Regina Margherita, located at a stone throw from the railway station of Cagliari.

Cagliari's Sardinian name ‘Casteddu’ literally means castle and is an ideal place to relax after the conference sessions. Although characterized by mild winters, the climate in February (6-15°C) usually does not allow you to fully enjoy the surrounding beaches (Cala Mosca, Cala Fighera, Poetto). However, Cagliari is rich of history and there are plenty of things to see (Basilica di Bonaria, Cattedrale di Santa Maria, Torre dell’Elefante, Bastione di Saint Remy, the Roman amphitheater) walking around the four historic neighbourhoods (Castello, Marina, Stampace and Villanova).  At the outskirts of the city you can meet the lovely pink flamingos in the pond of Molentargius, or dive into history by visiting nuragic archaeological sites. Cagliari is also full of restaurants where you can enjoy the superb Sardinian cuisine.
